Depressing story that just made me question her actions and motives because so many of them were foolish and ridiculous. Would not recommend this book to others. The best I can say about this book is that it comes across as Holocaust survivor fanfic where the spunky protagonist bounces through a series of highly improbable circumstances and from one worthless man to the next. This story is so unimaginable that one has to go back and doublecheck occasionally just to make sure that it isn’t a novel. While this book started out that way, more emphasis was placed on Simonne's life after she came out of hiding. It was interesting but not my cup of tea, especially with the often used "f" word.
